“Rubik’s lamp is an innovative project based on the popular toy from the eighties. Much like the original Rubik’s cube, the lamp is composed of 26 smaller cube-like pieces, whose interlocking shapes fit onto each other.
Rubik’s Lamp is a creative solution for customized lighting, and, just like the original toy, presents itself as a fun, challenging puzzle.

The “Gluttony” Lamp by designer Luis Luna,
Luis currently residing in Durango, Mexico, describes herself as “a full time dreamer, part time designer and occasional storyteller.”
The lamp is cleverly made from plastic cuttlery, and it’s title ‘gluttony’ hints at a mataphoric story to the design as well -

Wood, metal and textile, in three different colours, are the caracteristic that lift the Trico Chair. Joining the three materials it is possible to get a distinguishable simplicity and harmony.
The fact of being able of pile the chair and work with different materials make the Trico chair a functional, versatile object, with is own character.
Bonnie So is a Melbourne based recently graduated designer, making her mark in the design world.

Tell us a little about yourself, where are you from and where are you living now?
Born in Hong Kong in 1986. I moved to Australia for education in 2001. During my Bachelor of Design (Industrial Design) in 2006 I spent a year aboard at Hochschule Techknic fur Wirtscharft in Dresden, Germany where I further develop my passion and found my purpose for design. In 2007 I graduated as an industrial designer from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University. On the same year in 2007, I established the brand, ‘This is‘ after designing a homeware product, This is a Trivet. A product that is about re-purposing waste. I first showcased ‘This is a Trivet’ at the Melbourne Design market during the Melbourne Design Festival in 2007. After the success I have also exhibited at the Salone Satellite, Milan International Furniture Fair in 2008. Sine then I’ve continued to further my practices to in design and continued develop ‘This is’ in Melbourne.
I have recently been in touch with Chris Ferebee, who has kindly allowed me to share with you some of this innovative furniture design, under the microscope today is the H2 Shelving System.
The organic shelving alternative uses seperates pods, allowing it’s uses to construct the shelves to their own needs and requirements.
When I stumbled upon this design I was really blown away, not just the design itself but rather the theory behind it..

Yar Rassadin from Moscow, Russia is the designer behind the P-bookshelf.
The fusion of an old pendulum clock plus a simple bookshelf makes a bold statement and would look great in any contemporary home.
Can you imagine a window..? A window that you could carry with you in your pocket and could give you the power to search for anything and everything you see, when you see it?
Well so did Mac Funamizu Born and bred Tokyo Japan, in-house web/graphic and industrial designer.
“This is what I wish the internet search will be able to do with a mobile device in the NEAR future. Touch screen, built in camera, scanner, WiFi, google map (hopefully google earth), google search, image search… all in one device. Like this way, when you can see a building through it, it gives you the image search result right on the spot.”
“You can even see flowers that are not actually blooming.”
You know someone who subscribes to the belief that “design is a language and the designer the translator” is something special. Yoann Henry Yvon, a freelance product and interior designer based in Milan, possesses an earnest desire to “create iconic designs using pictures of symbols that[...]develop a special relationship between products and people”, bringing something new to design.
Though born in 1983 in Nice, France, Yvon lived in Spain for twelve years. There he studied at the University of Economy in Valencia before graduating with honors in interior design from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Italy in 2008. Now, instead of study, his days are filled by working on freelance projects and constant communication with a few different designers . A typical day includes scouring the net for new and exciting design blogs to keep himself up to date which what’s going on in the design world, administrative work, sketching and creating 3D models aiming to “make a rendering as realistic as possible”.
Belgian architectural lighting manufacturer Wever & Ducré have a new pendant light.

The Concrete Tube by Belgian designer Wall-y catches the eye immediately with its concrete look. It fits in perfectly with our quest for new materials and our love and respect for concrete. It should be said: this material is very hard to make, yet the result is magnificent. This hanging lamp gets its teeth into the room, as it were, and scores high on ‘cuddliness’. The Concrete Tube is ideal for minimalist homes, loft-style apartments, restaurants and offices.

I’m a bit of a concrete fanatic – and absolutely swooned when I saw this!
I love the industrial feel – and the fact that it isn’t a perfect finish on the cylinder just adds to its rough aesthetics – A lovely feature to any brutalist home or office :)
