I liked the balance between the masses: the concrete ramp, large ceiling portholes and the diagonal columns are subdued by the elegant glass door, metal framing and slim timber floorboards.

It’s interesting how the house has no ornamentation yet one can focus on a particular element and sense its impact in the overall design; concentrating on the characteristics of the materials used and its presence in space. Thus I find it appropriate to re-quote one of my favourite quotes once said by Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe that yet in fact, “less is more.”

I wonder whether the retaining wall was an inspiration from the Barcelona Pavilion by Mies Van Der Rohe where the architect also extrudes the external wall into internal space.
